OKLAHOMA CITY -- A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase in south Oklahoma City.
Spencer police said an officer attempted to pull over 67-year-old Judy Jo Lindsey. When the officer got out of his car, the woman took off in her Mercedes.
The chase started in Spencer then headed into Midwest City along East Stanley Draper Drive and ended in Cleveland County off Franklin Road near Lake Thunderbird.
Police deployed stop sticks in Midwest City and Lindsey's car lost several tires, but continued to flee. The chase reached speeds of more than 80 mph.
The car was riding on rims for much of the chase and eventually went off the street near the end of a road. Police used a fire extinguisher on the tires, which were smoking throughout the chase.
No one was injured during the pursuit.
Police were able to arrest Lindsey. It is unclear why she was originally stopped.
Police said she may suffer from some type of mental illness but would not elaborate.
Lindsey was being booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on several charges, including running from police and reckless driving.
