ROGERS COUNTY -- Rogers County authorities are looking for a man who robbed two men at gunpoint in the 150000 block of East 151st Street in rural Rogers County Monday morning.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton says deputies, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Owasso Police searched up to the noon hour in a one-mile area that is covered by dense vegetation near 149th East Avenue and 150th Street North.
"Dense vegetation like this makes it very difficult to find somebody that would be hiding in there," said Sheriff Scott Walton, Rogers County.
The two men told authorities, the suspect showed a gun and demanded money and to be taken to one of the victim's nearby home. The men refused and the robber stole what the pair had on them.
The robber fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
After searching for several hours, the sheriff's office called off the search shortly after noon.
The man being sought is described as 22 to 25 years of age, six-feet tall, 170 pounds, sandy colored hair, unshaven with dark clothing, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
The weapon used was believed to be a small caliber handgun.
Preliminary information includes speculation that the robbery suspect may have been staying or hiding in a motor home which was parked outside of the victim's residence in the time just before the robbery.
Anyone with information about the robbery or seen the suspect is asked to contact the Rogers County Sheriff's tip line at 918-341-3620. Callers may remain anonymous.
