TULSA, OK -- As far as Tulsa County officials are concerned, there will be no outdoor racing at the Tulsa County Fairgrounds.

In a news release, Expo Square officials announced that outdoor races will not be held at the fairgrounds.

They say Expo Square was approached by a racing group earlier this month about using Driller's Stadium to host micro and midget car races.

After doing a study, county officials decided the old stadium would not be feasible for outdoor racing.

The release says this type of activity will affect the surrounding residents and businesses.

"When this option was presented to me, my first question was: how does this impact the neighborhood? I asked neighbors to let me know how they felt about this issue and they responded accordingly," said Karen Keith, County Commissioner and member of the Tulsa County Public Facilities Authority. "They made it clear, and I agree, that this is not a good thing for the neighborhood."

Expo Square officials say they are still looking at what type of events that can be held at the old stadium site.
