TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Area Clean Cities Coalition hosted an electric vehicle display in downtown Tulsa Wednesday morning showcasing multiple uses of electric vehicles both in industry and for personal use.
The display on Samson Plaza at 3rd and Main Wednesday morning was in conjunction with a Tulsa Area Clean Cities Coalition educational meeting highlighting electric vehicles.
GM displayed its new extended range electric car, the Chevy Volt. This was the first public appearance of the Volt in northeastern Oklahoma.
The display also included a Peterbilt Model 337 Hybrid tractor with a PACCAR PX6 engine and a VERDEK electric vehicle charging station.
The Volt is actually a hybrid vehicle. It has an electric drive system that can be recharged by plugging into a standard electrical outlet. It also has a 1.4 liter gasoline engine to extend its range.
