TULSA, Oklahoma -- Costly repairs closed the Forest Creek community pool two years ago, but residents took action to get it up and running again.
Parents and their children worked together to raise money to repair the pool. On Saturday, they were able to enjoy the fruits of their efforts and cool off on this hot day.
"This pool is all about this community," said Suzie Omstead. "It's the heart of the community and the saying of it takes a village is a perfect description. Even the children did a change drive. They collected thousands of dollars to help renovate the pool."
First Oklahoma Bank helped fund some of those repairs. The pool is open to the public and organizers say they have lots of fun activities like "dive-in movies" and pizza parties planned for the summer.
