STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma State Cowboys are stepping up their game day wardrobe with new uniform combinations revealed Thursday.
Over the past few months multiple reports and mock-ups of the anticipated new threads have been sighted, but Thursday OSU released pictures of the new uniforms for all to see.
The new Nike Pro Combat football uniforms will be worn for the upcoming season and the most noticeable difference is the addition of a third primary color to the scheme, gray.
The Pokes now have:
Four jersey colors: White, gray, black and orange
Three helmet colors: White, gray, black (the gray and black are flat colors, not the high gloss like the white)
Four pant colors: White, gray, black and orange
All in all, the new Nike uniforms give the Cowboys 48 different wardrobe combinations.
"We're very excited about the new uniforms," quarterback Brandon Weeden said in a statement. "We have a great color scheme and adding gray into our rotation is a nice touch. There are a lot of new combinations we could wear and it gives the players even more excitement to put on the Oklahoma State uniform."
Weeden's favorite target, All-American and Biletnikoff Award winner Justin Blackmon, agreed.
"There is a definite coolness to our new uniforms and I think the players and fans alike can appreciate them," Blackmon said. "We've been an explosive team the last several years and now we have a look that goes along with that reputation."
"We are proud to continue our long relationship with Nike," said Mike Holder, Athletic Director for Oklahoma State. "The name is synonymous with providing athletes the finest gear in the world. Nike is uniquely qualified to provide us with lighter, performance based equipment that will allow our players to look great and play their best."
