TULSA, Oklahoma – Newson6's John Holcomb confirmed Monday that former Booker T. Washington defensive tackle Calvin Barnett has committed to Oklahoma State.
Barnett committed to the Cowboys while at Booker T., but later changed his mind and signed with Arkansas. But he was ruled academically ineligible and instead enrolled at Navarro College in Texas. He has played at Navarro for the last two seasons.
The Tulsa World first reported that Barnett called OSU head coach Mike Gundy Monday to make his commitment, and that the ability to return to Oklahoma and be near his family was one of the deciding factors. The Tulsa World also reported that OSU and Arkansas both maintained interest in Barnett during his time in junior college.
Barnett was named to the Army All-American Team in high school and was one of the highest rated defensive tackles in the nation. He now has become Oklahoma State's 16th commit for 2012.
