INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Three Tulsa area bands have advanced to the semi-finals of the Bands of America Grand National Championship competition in Indianapolis.
Out of more than 90 bands competing from across the country, the Broken Arrow, Owasso and Union High School Marching Bands are among 33 bands that advanced to the next round of the competition.
Semi-final competition begins Saturday morning. The top 12 bands will advance to the finals Saturday evening. Broken Arrow, Union and Owasso are the only bands from Oklahoma competing at nationals.
At a recent Bands of America super-regional competition in St. Louis, BA scored first, Union was second and Owasso took third place.
