Pastor Paul Blair said an unknown man called and left threatening messages at Fairview Baptist Church last week. The caller threatened Blair, his wife and church members.
"I have committed homicide more than one time and in more than one state, and yet have not been caught or charged. Think about that," the caller stated in the phone call.
The caller left multiple messages on Wednesday, November 16. After the fifth one, Blair called the police. He provided News 9 with this update Monday evening.
"Law enforcement has identified the individual and had conversation with him. He has requested the assistance of his own attorney. Law enforcement has completed its investigation and is filing charges with the DA's office tomorrow," Blair said.
No word on who the caller is at this point. Blair said the DA's office may not begin its investigation until after the thanksgiving holiday.
Pastor Blair believes the caller made threats because he spoke out against adding sexual orientation to the city's anti-discrimination policy.
