A Broken Arrow photographer's work has been selected in a user-generated photo contest that inspired a Hollywood film.
Chris Wehner's photo "Yea, Though I Walk" was one of eight photos selected from 96,362 entries in "Project Imagin8ion." Hollywood legend Ron Howard is producing "When You Find Me," a film based on the eight winning photographs.
The film will be shown in Tulsa on March 1. It tells the story of two sisters coping with a tragic loss in very different ways, according to a news release from Canon U.S.A.
Wehner's photo won in the Obstacle category.
"It's a very powerful, provocative and graphic frame of a cemetery and a cemetery gate, with a powerfully dramatic sky," Howard said of Wehner's photo.
"This image helped stimulate an unusual direction for the story; it's beautiful, eerie, mysterious, and very cinematic."
Wehner was flown to New York in November to attend the global film premiere.
"It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to participate in this contest, win, and meet Ron Howard," Wehner said.
The Tulsa screening of "When You Find Me," is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 1 at the Cinemark Tulsa 17. Get reservations for the screening by emailing CanonTulsaScreening@grey.com.
