If you're one of those people who's been over-weight all your life, what would get you motivated to change?
For one Jenks Teacher, it was a contest sponsored by Genghis Grill with a top prize of $10,000. But the real motivation is far more valuable the money
Wellness Wednesday at Jenks West Intermediate School is off and skipping. Special Ed teacher Mollie Mills is the inspiration for all the lunch recess activity. The kids seem to love it.
Mills entered a contest sponsored by Genghis Grill, the Mongolian stir fry place. Rules require a regular blog, votes from fans and a daily meal at Genghis Grill. She eats at the one in Bixby.
"It's a contest to change your lifestyle. That's what it's done for me," Mills said.
She's begun making healthier choices and exercising. Once the word got out, students and teachers at West Intermediate wanted to help.
So every Wednesday during the four lunch recess periods, she's joined by students and teachers who offer support and encouragement in her quest to get healthier.
Some would rather dance, so they cue up Beyonce's "Move Your Body." That's the theme for First lady Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' grant program.
The dance leader is Principal Michelle Sumner. One of those kids getting with the program is Mollie's son Brady.
"It's a fun experience to do this with my Mom," Brady said.
He says he's proud of her too, and he should be, she's losing weight, getting healthier, and encouraging others to do the same.
The contest ends at the end of the month.
