Two former Oklahoma Sooners have earned spots on the U.S. Olympic wrestling team that will compete later this year in London.
Jared Frayer and Sam Hazewinkel each were named to the team after winning at the Olympic Trials during the weekend in Iowa City, Iowa.
Frayer won the 145.5 pound title and Hazewinkel won at 121 pounds. The two will represent the U.S. during the Olympics scheduled for July 27 through Aug. 12.
Frayer wrestled at OU from 1999 to 2002 while Hazewinkel was a Sooner wrestler from 2004 to 2007.
The two are the first Sooners since Melvin Douglas and Quincey Clark in 2000 to earn spots on the U.S. wrestling team.
