The Oklahoma State Cowboys dropped their second consecutive game in heartbreaking fashion Thursday, falling to the Texas A&M Aggies 5-2 in the 12th inning, after holding a lead heading into the ninth.
Gage Green was responsible for both runs, a solo home run in the bottom of the third and scoring on a fielding error in the bottom of the seventh, holding a two-run lead late.
However, the Aggies erased the deficit in the top of the ninth, on a pair of RBI doubles from Jacob House and Mitchell Nau, forcing the extra innings.
After three full scoreless extra innings and a pair of singles to open up the 13th, Matt Juengel homered over the left field wall to take a 5-2 lead. Oklahoma State was retired in order in the bottom half of the inning to end the game.
The three-run home run earned Blake Barnes (5-5) a loss for his outing, giving up four hits in a 4.2 inning outing. Kyle Martin (7-5) was credited with a win, giving up just four hits and striking out five in five innings of service.
Oklahoma State will try to reverse its fortunes at 6:30 p.m. Friday and avoid a three-game losing streak in the process.
