Some of Oklahoma's Own got a chance to showcase their rich Native American history today at the Tulsa Powwow.

Nearly 80 Indian tribes from across the US were represented at the Spirit Bank Event Center.

Tribesman showed off their ceremonial dress, while dancing, singing and passing along their history to the younger generations. It's something organizers say is vital to the survival of their heritage.

"The significance is that we can continue that tradition of our tribal nations that we can continue to share with other tribes, and also we kind of set that example for our younger generations," said Robert Anquoe, of the Powwow Committee.

This year marks the 60th anniversary for the Powwow.

If you missed today don't worry, the event runs though the weekend.
