TU's Board Of Trustees Appoints Former President As Its New President

The University of Tulsa Board of Trustees, Thursday, named a familiar face as the university's new president.

Effective October 1st, TU President Emeritus Steadman Upham will return to the position he held for eight years.

"I have every confidence that The University of Tulsa is as strong as ever, and I look forward to helping ensure TU has a smooth transition into its next historic phase," Steadman Upham said. "I sincerely love this university and this city, and I am glad to be of service at this crucial time."

Upham retired on June 30th and was replaced by Geoffrey Orsak, who was president of TU for about two months, before he was fired earlier this month.

A TU spokesperson said in a press release that Upham will remain as president for up to two years, while the board of trustees searches for a new permanent president.

The university has not announced an exact timeline for the search.
