Suspect In Kayla Ferrante Murder Faces Multiple New Charges In Unrelated Case

The man charged with the murder of Kayla Ferrante now faces a multitude of additional charges, unrelated to that murder case.

After further investigation, Edwin Jermaine Daniels, 24, was charged Wednesday with 20 felony counts, including kidnapping, several counts of first degree burglary and robbery with a firearm, and assault while masked or disguised.

Daniels was charged alongside Michael Daniel Hilliard, 21, who now faces several additional charges, including three counts of kidnapping, and also several counts of first degree burglary, robbery with a firearm, and assault while masked or disguised.

Hilliard and Daniels were originally charged in connection with a string of robberies and burglaries in August. Those charges were dismissed and re-filed with the additional counts Wednesday.

Police said Kayla Ferrante, 17, was killed while riding in a car with her boyfriend, the night after her graduation from Memorial High School. Arrest reports said a witness told police that Daniels shot at the car multiple times with an AK-47 rifle, reportedly believing it to be driven by a rival gang member. A bullet traveled through the license plate of the car, through two seats and hit Ferrante in the chest.

Daniels was arrested for that murder at the end of July and Hilliard was arrested on August 21.

Both men remain in a Tulsa County jail.

Daniels is being held without bond on the separate murder and shooting with intent to kill charges. His arraignment in that case will be December 3.

Hilliard's bond amount was raised from $140,000 to over $600,000.
