Okay Schools Closed Monday Due To Viral Meningitis

Okay Schools will not have classes on Monday due to an exposure to viral meningitis. Acting Superintendent David Harlow said a school employee contracted the disease.

Cleaning crews will be at the school system Monday to disinfect school building.

Viral meningitis is not the same as bacterial meningitis that was responsible for student deaths in Oologah in 2010. Viral meningitis is caused by an infection, but it's usually mild, and patients tend to recover quickly.
