A home grown movie is making it's premiere Thursday night, right here in Tulsa.

It's called "Home Run" and was written by two ORU students. Vivica A. Fox is one of the stars, but two of our own News On 6 journalists were in a few scenes.

The red carpet event at AMC Southroads Thursday afternoon will be followed by a private screening..

The movie stars Scott Elrod, Dorian Brown, and Vivica A. Fox.

Elrod plays a professional baseball player, whose problems with alcohol force him to go to rehab in his hometown of Okmulgee.

The movie began filming in Okmulgee and Tulsa in October 2011. It used a lot of local people as actors and extras. That included News On 6 Reporter Dan Bewley and photojournalist Michael Blair, who played sports reporters, trying to interview the main character in the movie while he coached a little league baseball team.

The budget for the film came in just under $2 million. The filmmakers say they chose Oklahoma because of a 37 percent tax rebate, as well as the friendly people.

If you think filming a movie scene is all glamour, guess again: Dan and Michael arrived on the set at 9 a.m. and didn't start shooting their scene until after 1 p.m., and that 30-second scene took nearly an hour to film.

The film opens nationwide on April 19.
