Owasso's City Manager has turned himself in to police. Rodney Ray was booked into the Tulsa County jail Tuesday afternoon.

He's charged with passing a bogus check of more than $1,000, a felony, and with falsely reporting a crime, which is a misdemeanor.

Prosecutors say Ray wrote a bad check to a local hearing aid company, but filed a police report claiming the check was stolen.

A City of Owasso spokesperson says Ray is currently on paid leave, for an unrelated internal investigation involving a donation made to the city, and a video that Ray is accused of getting rid of.

Owasso City councilors are meeting Tuesday evening to discuss personnel matters involving Ray and his future with the city.

Ray paid his $2,000 bond and was released at 4:21 p.m. He spent less than an hour in jail.

Ray was the subject of a closed-door session at Tuesday night's Owasso City Council Meeting.
