Former Glenpool High School football star Isaac Maselera has been arrested on a drug-related offense for the second time in about a year.
Tulsa police arrested the 20-year-old Maselera at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday for DUI-actual physical control of a vehicle, jail records show.
Maselera signed with Oklahoma State University out of high school but was dismissed from the team in 2012.
A Tulsa police officer wrote in an arrest report that he watched as a vehicle at 61st Street and Lewis Avenue sat through three cycles of the traffic light without moving. When the officer approached the vehicle, he found Maselera passed out with his foot on the brake, according to the report.
A field sobriety test was performed, which Maselera failed, the report says.
According to police, Maselera admitted to taking a Xanax and smoking marijuana about five hours prior. He refused a blood test and was booked into the Tulsa County jail, the report says.
Maselera, who was a highly sought-after player in high school, was a defensive back at OSU for 14 games before he was dismissed from the team last October for violating team rules.
His dismissal came after he was given a deferred sentence for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to court documents, a controlled grinder that contained the smell of burned marijuana was found in his dorm room at Young Hall on the OSU campus in June 2012.
Maselera was given a one-year deferred sentence, which doesn't end until Oct. 15. He also was ordered to complete 20 hours of community service and a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Maselera transferred to the Pittsburg State University football team in April and currently is listed as a junior safety on the Gorillas' roster.
He was a football and track star for Glenpool, and according to his 2012 biography on the Oklahoma State athletics website, was an honor student in high school.
He is scheduled to appear in court on July 8.
