Neighbors rescued a Broken Arrow woman from a burning home Tuesday afternoon.

When a Broken Arrow neighborhood filled with smoke, Juan Rodriguez zeroed in on a neighbor fighting for fresh air.

"As soon as she opened the garage door there was just a lot of smoke and I kind of saw her," Rodriguez said.

The 17-year-old Union High School junior raced to the house. Rodriguez arrived just as the mailman was pulling up. Together, the two pulled the woman out of her burning home.

Jon Hatcher lives next door and captured the aftermath.

He says the postman also knocked on neighbors' doors to alert them to the fire.

"My daughter was like, 'Daddy, come on. Let's go!' So we got out the house, and we were engulfed in smoke," Hatcher said.

"It was just black smoke everywhere and as soon as they put that out, it seemed like it was going to, the fire was dead, but the roof caught on fire and that's when the roof collapsed and the frame of the house just fell," Rodriguez said.

The woman made it out of the fire alive thanks to a quick-thinking teenager and a mailman who delivered a stranger from danger.
