The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a motorcycle rider died Saturday afternoon in a crash on Highway 169 south of Oologah.
The trooper's report said a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer headed north turned left at Rogers County Road 4070 into the path of the southbound motorcycle at 4:30 p.m. The Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the SUV's passenger side door, ejecting its rider and causing the SUV to roll one and a half times.
The scene was south of Oologah.
The OHP says the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
A medical helicopter flew the driver of the SUV, Russell Reed, 28, of Oologah to a Tulsa hospital. The OHP report stated his condition was stable with head and trunk injuries.
Firefighters from the Northwest Rogers County Fire Department had to peel back the roof of the Trailblazer to free Reed, who was pinned inside.
The highway remained partly open but traffic was slowed for about 90 minutes by the wreck.
The OHP says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
