A Sand Springs man was arrested Thursday evening after police say he peeped into homes on Skylane Drive. Police say they have surveillance video of Braden Michael Gramm, 29, peeping into one home on several occasions.
"The homeowner called and said she'd seen a shadow and then saw someone run from the backyard," said Sand Springs Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter.
The house had video surveillance system, and the homeowner was able to backtrack, discovering the man had been in their backyard masturbating on several occasions, Carter said.
On Thursday, police set up an undercover operation to try to find the suspect. One Sand Springs officer walked a dog through the neighborhood in the 5400 block of Skylane Drive while another officer drove through the area.
When someone called in reporting a suspicious vehicle, officers found the suspect's white pickup parked with a bed light still on.
One officer found Gramm walking on Barr Street, wearing dark-colored shorts and hoodie. The suspect first told police he was out for a run, an arrest report states.
Police say his shoes matched the shoes of the man in the video, and they took him into custody.
According to the arresting officer, Gramm later admitted he had peeped into one of the houses on Skyline Drive a "handful of times." In another instance, he said he followed a woman home after seeing her walk her dog.
One unusual aspect of the case was that Gramm peeped during the daylight hours, according to Assistant Chief of Police Mike Carter.
"When you have a privacy fence, you don't think there's going to be some guy hanging out in your backyard doing this stuff," he said.
The homeowner's video helped police determine how many charges to bring against Gramm, Carter said.
Gramm was booked on five felony counts of indecent exposure and five misdemeanor counts of peeping Tom. He is being held on a $27,500 bond.
