Police say a man rang the doorbell and knocked on the front door of an east Tulsa home Tuesday morning and when no one answered, kicked open the door.
Officers said once inside, the man confronted the homeowner and shot twice, wounding the 23-year-old homeowner in the right hand and left arm.
The home is located in the 2800 block of South 118th East Avenue.
The man normally wasn't home on a weekday morning but had stayed home from work, according to Sergeant Robert Rohloff.
He was in a back bedroom and went to answer the door as the man kicked it open. He was wounded once in the arm and once in the hand.
Tulsa Police say the suspect ran outside and got into an orange four-door pickup truck and drove away. Two other men were waiting in the truck.
Officers say the victim is expected to be okay. Police are now looking for the pickup truck and the three men.
Rohloff said there seems to be an increasing trend for burglars to be armed, adding that the homeowner was lucky not to have been killed.
