A four to five week old puppy was found with his ears cut off early Wednesday morning in Oklahoma City. Now, officials are trying to find the person responsible for abusing the puppy.
According to the Bella Foundation, the puppy was found freezing and injured near 23rd Street and Interstate 44. His ears were removed in an apparent "home ear crop" procedure.
Officials say a Good Samaritan found the puppy and brought him to a local veterinary clinic. The puppy was anemic and hypothermic. But thanks to quick action, he will survive and is currently in a foster home of the Bella Foundation.
Officials with the Bella Foundation are asking for the public's help to identify the person who is responsible for abusing the puppy.
"Our fear is that there are additional puppies from the same litter in the same condition," said Eric McCune, Executive Director of The Bella Foundation, SPCA. "If you find one puppy you usually find more and they could be in danger."
If you have any information or have seen puppies like this in the area, contact the Bella Foundation at info@thebellafoundation.org or call 866-318-PETS.
You will remain anonymous, and any information received will be used by OKC Animal Welfare to investigate and ensure the people responsible do not do this again.
