Services are pending for Tulsa community leader Eric "Rick" Rollerson who was killed while crossing a North Tulsa street Sunday afternoon.

Family members say African American and political community figures including Mayor Dewey Bartlett, City Councilor Jack Henderson and Senator Jabar Shumate are expressing their respect for the loss of the 74-year-old man.

Brother Leon Rollerson said his brother was walking on a side street next to his ranch when he was struck and killed.

Rollerson is known as the CEO for the Rollerson Foundation and Black Eagle Enterprises. He was also the first African-American to run for Tulsa mayor and a member of the Black Cowboy Group.

Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley said the driver of the Chevrolet pickup that hit Rollerson may have been driving under the influence of alcohol. The truck continued on and struck a utility pole, injuring the driver.

On Tuesday, Ashley said there was an odor of alcohol in the truck, but police will wait on lab results to decide if the driver will be arrested or charged with any crime.

The 44-year-old male driver sustained a collapsed lung and broken jaw in the collision with the utility pole, he said.
