Funeral services were held Thursday for an Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputy who died after suffering a heart attack.
Deputy Terry Fisher suffered a heart attack while on-duty on Friday, January 10, and died at the Mercy Heart Hospital Sunday.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at Life Church, located at 2001 N.W. 178th and Penn. in Edmond.
According to the Sheriff's office, Deputy Fisher joined the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office as a reserve in 2002, and became full time on May 19. 2009. He was assigned to the Patrol Division.
Deputy Fisher received many awards during his service, including Bureau Employee of the Year, Life Saving Awards, and Traffic Safety awards.
Known for his passion for traffic safety, friends and colleagues say Fisher will be greatly missed by many.
"I had the good fortune of being one of Terry's best friends," said Matt Jackson with the Sheriff's office. "When Kristi called me on Sunday, it was quite a shock. We talked almost every day so it's been a little challenging."
"He bore the brunt of things that he could take on his shoulders. He bore the brunt of anything that you ask him," Jackson said.
Deputy Fisher is survived by his wife Kristi, children Lanie, Jessi, Jake and Aaron, mother Diana, twin brother Tony, brother Rick Stimson and sisters Connie Gabel, Dina Stephens.
A fund has been set up to help Deputy Fisher's family with funeral and other expenses. You can make a donation to the Terry Fisher Fund, OCSO Hope Team, 201 N. Shartel in Oklahoma City, or at any Sheriff's office substation.
A "Tip-A-Cop" fundraiser will also take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, at Old Chicago, 1140 E. 2nd in Edmond, to benefit Deputy Fisher's family.
