The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says three Miami residents were killed in a multiple-vehicle crash on an icy bridge connecting Oklahoma and Texas late Sunday.

Troopers said the crash happened on the Highway 69/75 bridge crossing the Red River. According to a preliminary report, 40-year-old Juan Garcia was driving a 2006 Ford SUV with eight other passengers when he lost control of his vehicle on the bridge.

The OHP said Garcia struck the inside railing of the bridge, then bounced across the roadway and struck the outside bridge railing. His SUV was then struck by two oncoming tractor-trailers.

Garcia was killed in the crash, along with two passengers, Anita Mayorga, 70 and an unidentified juvenile.

Two other adults, Eugenia Garcia, 38, and Rosalinda Alaniz, 46, and three unidentified juveniles were taken to a Denison, Texas hospital.

The OHP says the drivers of the two semis from Illinois and Missouri were not injured.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.
