The Creek County Sheriff's Office says 10 horses that appear to be suffering from malnutrition have been seized and taken for evaluation and treatment.
News On 6 reported on this story Thursday after concerned neighbors called in the possible animal neglect case. Some of the horses were skin and bones and one had a gaping wound.
Sergeant Les Vaughan with CCSO said deputies had been investigating the horses on West 61st near Mannford, gathering information from the horse owner, witnesses and the owner's veterinarian.

"After deputies established the owner failed to schedule a veterinarian to respond to the location within a reasonable amount of time, Creek County Sergeant Allen Harwood brought a veterinarian to the scene," Vaughan said in a news release.
After the examination, the Sheriff's Office seized 10 horses and took them "to a safe place for evaluation and treatment," the release states.
Once the investigation is complete, the Creek County District Attorney will review the case to determine any possible charges against the owner.
