Residents of Yale are being advised to boil their drinking water after a sample tested positive for E. coli. The City advises that customers bring their water to a full boil for at least one minute before drinking, using in food preparation, dish washing, toothbrushing and washing infants - who may ingest bath water.

In a notice to the public, the city said the E. coli positive sample was collected April 11. The notice was posted on Facebook, according to residents.

"The sample that tested positive for E. coli was collected at the sewer plant, and there is possibly a cross contamination with sewer sample," the notice states.

A letter provided by residents on Sunday said a second sample was taken, which tested negative. A third sample will be taken on Monday. The updated notice still urges residents to take boiling precautions until Monday's results are known.
