Tulsa police arrested a wanted Arkansas man after chasing him Thursday afternoon.
Police say Eric Whitaker, 26, carjacked a woman near 66th Street and South Peoria Avenue, stabbed a man and forced Metro Christian Academy to go on lockdown briefly.
The husband of the woman who was carjacked told News On 6 that Whitaker approached her car and yelled for the woman to exit. The husband said she did and Whitaker took off in it.
He said Tulsa Police were in the area and witnessed the carjacking. He said they chased Whitaker, and he ran through two fences and a dumpster. The husband said Whitaker ditched the vehicle a few blocks north and attempted to run.
Police arrested Whitaker shortly after.
The husband said he is thankful his wife and daughter, who had exited the car shortly before it was stolen, are safe, and is glad police were in the area and responded quickly.
Whitaker is wanted in Arkansas for shooting a gun out of a vehicle.
Police say they also arrested Whitaker's girlfriend, Alicia Shiver, 25, on warrants.
