The Monday morning quarterbacking after Tuesday's primary has already started.
One of the most heated races was on the GOP side for Tom Coburn's U.S. Senate seat.
James Lankford beat rival T.W. Shannon convincingly.
"It wasn't just a loss," said News 9 Political Analyst Scott Mitchell. "It was a great big loss."
Mitchell said Shannon's attempt to label Lankford a Washington insider with close ties to the President was a huge mistake.
"You have to figure out what you did wrong and often times that means replacing people around you," Mitchell said about the former Speaker of the House's political future.
"Try to stay relevant," advises Mitchell. "Try to be part of the conversation."
Mitchell claims that job will be made easier with the help of Republicans here and outside Oklahoma who still feel the state's youngest Speaker of the House is still an attractive candidate.
"T.W.'s name is going to be out there," Mitchell added
The candidate himself told News 9 Tuesday night he'll campaign for James Lankford until November and focus on his consulting business.
"We'll see what the Lord says," said Shannon, Tuesday night. "We haven't shut the door on anything."
