The University of Tulsa and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette have agreed to a two-game football series, it was announced today by TU’s Vice President and Director of Athletics Derrick Gragg.
The first game in the series will be played in Tulsa on Sept. 9, 2017, while Tulsa will return the game in Lafayette, Louisiana on Sept. 28, 2019.
This is the first meeting in the series since the 1992 campaign, when UL-Lafayette was known as Southwestern Louisiana. The Ragin ‘Cajuns lead the series 5-4, but Tulsa won the last two games with a 34-20 victory in Lafayette in the 1991 campaign and a 27-9 home victory in 1992. Tulsa has a 3-2 record at home in the series, while UL-Lafayette has posted a 3-1 home mark in the nine-game series. The series first began in 1977 as ULL grabbed a 48-21 home victory.
UL-Lafayette, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, has posted a 27-12 record the past three seasons, while also capturing three straight bowl wins in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
