The Tulsa Police Department has released the names of a mother and son found shot to death in their home in the 2000 block of South Delaware Place.

Homicide detective Sgt. Dave Walker says they are Kimberly Crabtree, 50, and her son Joseph Crabtree, 17.

Walker says the “shooting was planned by both parties.” He says evidence recovered from the home indicates Joseph shot his mother then himself in a murder-suicide.

Walker says the state Medical Examiner’s Office will attempt to determine the sequence of events that led up to their deaths.

Police said the shooting happened at about 4 p.m. They say when Kimberly's sister could not get into the home she called police. Police officers and firefighters were able to force entry and found the bodies.

The headmaster at Tulsa’s Cascia Hall Preparatory School Roger Carter said Joseph Crabtree was a former student at the school. He sent a letter to parents and others connected to the school.

Dear Cascia Community,

I am saddened to report the death of Joe Crabtree, a former student at Cascia Hall. Joe attended Cascia his 7th thru 9th grade years, leaving us in 2012 at the end of his freshman year. Last night after learning of Joe’s death, many of his former classmates asked to gather at our chapel to support each other in dealing with this tragic loss. Several administrators, counselors and priests were available to support the students. The police are still investigating the death of Joe and his mother.

Please keep the Crabtree family in your prayers and also our young people who are dealing with the loss of a friend.
