Tulsa police are searching for a killer after they found a woman shot to death at her apartment complex.
The shooting happened at the Colonial Park Apartments. Police said several people at the couples witnessed what happened and after investigators cleared the crime scene, some of the witnesses came out to place flowers where the young woman died.
Friends and neighbors stood around a makeshift memorial for a young woman shot and killed Wednesday afternoon at the Colonial Park Apartments near 21st and Memorial.
Police said the victim and a man were outside the apartments arguing when he took a gun out of his pickup, shot her and then took off.
Sherri Payne lives in the apartment right above where the shooting happened, she said she never expected to come home to a crime scene.
"I thought we were moving into a quieter neighborhood, quieter apartments, but I guess not,” she said.
Police are still not sure if either the victim or the shooter lived at the complex, but they believe they may have been visiting friends there on a regular basis.
They think that because a red truck fitting the description of the shooter's has been parked there.
"I've seen the truck. Like I said, I see it there in the mornings when I get ready to go to work and I see it at night," Payne said.
Payne said she's shocked something like this could happen so close to home.
"I mean you hear arguments and everything but as far as guns or anything like that, no,” she said. “Like I said, we've just been here a month and this is not what I want to come home to."
Police are still not releasing the name of the woman that died, and as of right now police have not made an arrest.
