Storms Leave Trail Of Damage; More Rain, Brutal Wind Expected Today

Powerful winds left a trail of damage across southwest Oklahoma Sunday night, and we're bracing for a round of cool, raw weather Monday.

The storms that rolled through the state Sunday evening destroyed a vacant mobile home in Mountain Park in Kiowa County. Debby Clinton believes it was something stronger than straight-line winds.

"Everything was blowing in a circular motion. The debris, wind, rain. It sounded like a roar or a train," said Clinton.

Wind also damaged the roof of a home in the town of Elmer in Jackson County.

Several semi-trucks were flipped along I-40 in Washita County in western Oklahoma. Overturned trucks were also reported on the Turnpike in Cotton County and near the Hobart Airport.

Lightning knocked out power Sunday night to residents in the Oklahoma City metro and Enid. News 9 Storm Trackers and viewers reported hail falling in several counties as the noisy storms marched across the state late Sunday into early Monday morning.

As of 9:45 a.m. Monday, 1,560 customers are still without power in Enid, according to OG&E. 

News 9 Meteorologists Jed Castles and Lacey Swope say more rain is expected Monday. High winds and falling temperatures are also in the forecast.
