A woman stole a package from a family who lives near 71st and Yale. The mean trick almost ruined Halloween for the children in the home.
The package contained Halloween costumes for the two kids who had been waiting anxiously for them to arrive.
"Every day they were checking the front porch, asking mom, ‘Is it here yet? Is it here yet,'" the children's father, Greg, said.
His nine-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter had ordered a Robin Hood costume and a Black Widow costume and they couldn't wait for the package to arrive.
They checked the porch for days and found nothing. Their mom checked the tracking and saw it had been delivered on October 23rd at 3:11 p.m.
Greg checked their video cameras and just as he expected discovered the mailman delivered it right on time, but he didn't expect to see what happened just four minutes later.
"Here comes this yellow truck pulling right into the driveway, lady gets out, picks up the package and puts it in her truck," he said.
She stole the package and, just like that, Greg's kids no longer had the Halloween costumes they wanted so badly.
The video shows the woman had other packages in the back of her truck and even more inside.
"It's pathetic,” Greg said. “Regardless of what was in the box, we work hard for our things. For somebody to feel like it's theirs to take, it's just not right.”
Greg hopes the video accomplishes three things: shames the woman, gets her identified and warns others.
"So close to the holidays, everyone is getting packages delivered. People shouldn't have to worry, are things going to be stolen off our porch," he said.
Greg has cameras on his house because burglars ransacked it last month and stole some things. Last Christmas someone stole their decorations off the front lawn
Greg said he's sick of thieves.
"She needs to be brought to justice. For once, it would be nice to catch one of these people," he said.
The good news is their mom found another Robin Hood costume, so their son is happy.
They couldn't find a Black Widow, but did find a black cat costume for their daughter, so she's happy too.
Greg said he will be happy when the woman is caught.
If you recognize her call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
