Owasso Firefighters are battling a brushfire near 106th Street North west of Mingo.
Firefighters are working to protect nearby homes and keep the fire from jumping 106th Street North. There's no word yet on how the fire started.
There is a lot of dry vegetation to fuel the fast-moving brush fire, according to Osage SkyNews 6 HD pilot Will Kavanagh.
Wind gusts up to 35 mph are making the fire harder to get under control. Smoke from the fire is affecting visibility and drivers should avoid the area. Kavanagh said there are working cattle ranches in the area, and ranchers are guiding their cattle to the already burned sections for safety.
The Owasso Fire Chief said that, based on aerial footage from Osage SkyNews 6 HD, he thought the fire was about 100-acres.
Police are blocking traffic on 106th Street North. So far no evacuations have been reported.
Sand Springs firefighters are also dealing with a brushfire. Tuesday afternoon a fire started near Highway 412 and 209th West Avenue.
Osage SkyNews 6 HD flew from above and Kavanagh said it looked as though a mulch pile got over heated and started the fire.
He said winds were coming out of the south between 20 and 30 miles an hour, but the fire had so much fuel that it continued to move south, into the wind.
He said it looked like the fire was in a construction site and no homes were in danger.
