Investigators said they are still searching for answers in a deadly shooting in southwest Oklahoma City. It happened in a home with a garage apartment on the 3300 block of S.W. 51st Street around 4 p.m.

Dennis Thorpe said he lives at the home and rents out the garage apartment. On Saturday, he said he was taking a nap at the time of the shooting.

“I was sleeping on the couch and I heard one of my roommates screaming, ‘He's shot! He's shot!' Another roommate came down the stairs saying he's not going to make it,” Thorpe explained.

Thorpe said he called 911 and emergency crews came to his home. For the rest of the night, he said he was with police talking about what happened.

“I don't know exactly how many times he was shot or where exactly he was shot,” said Thorpe.

Thorpe said the man who died had been there to visit the woman who lived in the garage apartment. Other than that, Thorpe said he didn't know much more. He said the victim was not a close friend of his, but was a nice person.

“Seemed like he cared about everybody and everything...too young to die like that,” Thorpe told News 9.

Thorpe only knew the victim's nickname. As of Sunday afternoon, police had not officially released the identity of the man who died in the shooting. Authorities said they are still looking for a suspect.

“I hope they get him or her,” Thorpe said.

If you have any information about what happened, you're asked to call police.
