Claremore residents woke up to a half-foot of snow. Thankfully first responders only handled a few accidents in Rogers County.

We took Highway 20 from Collinsville. Crews kept most of the steep grades plowed on Keetonville Hill. To get there we had to brave the slippery roads in Owasso.

Just getting onto Highway 169 became a challenge for drivers. People stuck behind a Cadillac that spun out jumped in to help.

"I've been driving around Owasso all day," said Chase Donavan. "It's pretty bad. You'll be all right, just go slow; pay attention to what you're doing."

Then on to one of the more difficult roads to drive on in Rogers County: Highway 20's Keetonville Hill. The steep parts were plowed and mostly clear of snow.

The Roberts weren't so lucky. Scott and Crystal were out checking the road conditions. Their tires started to spin when they tried to turn around.

"Basically the rear end just started sliding further and further into the ditch," said Scott Roberts. His wife was dreading having to come by that way Monday night.

Thirty county road crews worked all day to clear the side streets. The county turned these road graders into snow plows.

In Claremore, the main roads were mostly clear by noon. That didn't stop some people from skidding out

"We just stopped our car, pulled around, did a U-turn, stopped, put our hazard lights on, jumped out and pushed them out," said Ben Scott, who helped a stranded driver.

"Feels good to help them out," he said.

Drivers just have his word of advice if you decide to head out on the roads.

"Stay on the main highway you'll be OK," Scott said.

The Turnpike Authority expects to have the Will Rogers Turnpike cleared Monday night.
