PSO Begins Installing Its New High Tech Electric Meters In Tulsa

Public Service Company of Oklahoma has begun replacing its current electric meters with Advanced Meter Infrastructure or AMI meters across Tulsa.

PSO says crews installed 350 of the new meters Monday and installers are continuing their work Tuesday.

The utility which has customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma estimates the replacement of the existing meters with the new high tech meters across all of its territory will take until the end of 2016.

More than 30,000 PSO customers in Owasso, Sand Springs, Okmulgee and at the University of Tulsa already have new AMI meters.

Late last year, PSO customers saw their monthly electric bill go up by $3.11 to pay for installation of the new meters.
