One Person Dead; 50 Mobile Homes Destroyed In Sand Springs Tornado

<p>A tornado ripped through portions of Pawnee, Creek and Tulsa Counties on Wednesday evening, and one person died and two others were injured and taken to area hospitals.</p>

A tornado ripped through portions of Pawnee, Creek and Tulsa Counties on Wednesday evening, and one person died and two others were injured and taken to area hospitals.

A mobile home park, near 145th West Avenue and Highway 51, was destroyed. Officials said 50 mobile homes have various levels of damage, but the storm took out nearly the whole park.

Authorities confirmed the fatality to News On 6 around 7:30 p.m. Two people transported were listed in critical condition, EMSA said.

Sand Springs and Sapulpa fire departments were on scene performing rescue operations late into the night.

A gas leak also had crews out doing emergency repairs.

Sand Springs Public Schools has canceled classes for Thursday.
