Organizers of the music festival Rocklahoma have forced evacuation of the staging area in Pryor due to threatening severe weather.

Earlier in the evening, organizers closed the gates and sent attendees to their cars and campsites because of lightning spotted in the area.

The gates were reopened and about 2 hours later, the announcement was made to close the site because of the threat of tornadoes.

The call was made before the headliner of the night, Linkin Park, was scheduled to perform.

An estimated 30,000 people are in Pryor each day for the festivities.

Patrons camping on site were encouraged by the Rocklahoma organizers to stay put throughout the night because driving is discouraged as flash flooding continues.
