A Cherokee County jury found Broken Arrow resident Joshua Schneider guilty of killing Northeastern State University Professor Dr. Tiffany Maher.

Schneider met Maher on a dating website. Prosecutors say he then robbed her, killed her and tried to set her house on fire in the summer of 2013. He was on the run for several days before police captured him in Tulsa.

The jury also convicted Schneider on arson and larceny charges. Police say he stole several items from her home and tried to pawn them.

Maher was 40 when she was killed.
