State Supreme Court Upholds Grand Jury Probe Of Tulsa County Sheriff

We The People Oklahoma says the Oklahoma Supreme Court has denied a motion by Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz to stop a grand jury investigation into his office. They called it "a win for Team Tulsa County."

On Tuesday, a Supreme Court referee heard arguments on the sheriff's motions. On Thursday morning, the court issued its decision.

The ruling follows a similar decision by Tulsa District Judge Rebecca Nightingale last week, denying Glanz's motion.

"People who have never believed in the system, people who have felt like they wanted to give up, and now they look at the situation and they say, 'Yes, we can make a difference,'" Lewis said.

In a news release, We The People Oklahoma said, "We again thank our supporters because when the people come together for the greater good anything is possible. We must hold our elected officials accountable to the people of this great state. We will continue to push to make the lives of Oklahomans better."

The group held a news conference about the court's ruling Thursday afternoon.

"We are anticipating the grand jury Monday and we're going to be looking for the findings that will come out of it," said Marq Lewis with We The People Oklahoma.

District Judge Nightingale is expected to empanel the grand jury Monday.

However, Glanz could still file a motion at the district court level, or could file a petition in error at the state Supreme Court level, according to We The People attorney, Laurie Phillips.
