Norman’s Christopher Bell won the 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic in dramatic fashion Wednesday night at the famed Eldora Speedway dirt track. It was Bell’s first NASCAR Truck Series victory in the third start of his career, driving the No. 54 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
"It's just unbelievable," said Bell in Victory Lane. "I've been coming here quite a few times and if you would have told me two years ago that my first win at Eldora was going to be in a truck, I would have told you you're crazy. This is just fantastic. I'm just thrilled to be here."
MB Motorsports’ Bobby Pierce, a dirt veteran like Bell, scored the Pole earlier in the day and led much of the race until a Lap 42 restart when Bell jumped ahead. Bell then controlled the race fighting off Pierce, Brad Keselowski, Tyler Reddick and Ty and Austin Dillon over various restarts.
The final restart of the night featured Bell and Pierce up front but despite the latter’s last-turn pass attempt, Bell held on for the victory. Pierce finished second and Tyler Reddick third.
The Truck Series continues August 1st at Pocono Raceway for the Pocono Mountains 150.
