Bartlesville Police are asking the public to help in a murder investigation after a shooting victim was discovered early Sunday morning. Captain Jay Hastings said a 44-year-old man was found shot to death around 1:15 a.m. in the neighborhood of Oak Park.
His name has not been released pending family notification.
Police were called to the park in the 700 block of NW Acorn Street after someone reported a "large disturbance," Hastings said in a news release. While officers were on the way to that call, the received additional reports of gunshots in the same area.
"Upon arrival, officers found a 44-year-old man deceased lying in the middle of the street. Apparently the man had been shot during the disturbance, and most of the subjects involved had already left the scene," Hastings said.
Investigators believe an argument started at Douglas Park, then the people involved drove north on Virginia Street to the remote location in Oak Park where the shooting took place.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Bartlesville Police Department at 918-338-4001 or Crime Stoppers at 918-336-2583.
