Fire officials said a lightning strike started a fire at a home between Skiatook and Highway 75 early Wednesday.
Skiatook, Collinsville and Tulsa Tulsa firefighters were called to the home just south of Highway 20 at about 3 a.m. When they arrived, smoke and flames were seen coming from the roof of the home.
The homeowner told firefighters he was awakened by a bang and went to investigate and found smoke pouring from the attic. Everyone in the home got outside before firefighters arrived.
Fire officials say a Skiatook firefighter was taken to an Owasso hospital to be treated for exhaustion.
They said the home's roof was destroyed and there was extensive damage to the second floor.
The homeowner told News On 6 he had just bought the home a month ago.
