Police: Suspect On The Run After Okmulgee Shooting

Okmulgee Police are searching for a man wanted for armed robbery and shooting with intent to kill. They hope the public can help locate him.

Chief of Police Joe Prentice said Daniel Shawnee-Kine Tabbytite should be considered armed and dangerous.

Tabbytite is wanted for a shooting overnight Monday in the 600 block of South Alabama, Prentice said. The 18-year-old man reportedly pointed a 9 mm gun at several people in an apartment. One of them followed him when he left the apartment, and Tabbytite shot that person in the leg, according to police.

The victim was treated and released for the bullet wound.

"Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Tabbytite and spent the afternoon yesterday searching for him but could not locate him," Prentice said.

He's described as an Indian male, 5'10" tall and 182 pounds. He's wanted for shooting with intent to kill, armed robbery and pointing a firearm.

It was the second shooting the department investigated in a little over 24 hours, according to the chief. The first took place on August 30, 2015, in the 900 block of North Central. Someone fired several shots into a residence.

No one was hit. Police believe the shooting may be drug related as they found crack cocaine and marijuana near the scene, a news release states. One of the people at the home is a suspect in other shootings which could also be a motive, Prentice said.

That shooting is still under investigation.
