There are plenty of food options at the Tulsa State Fair, with 650 vendors are helping turn the fairgrounds into a small city.

Some of the owners come from all across the country to spend 11 days in Green Country.

Hardenbrook Concessions, which hails from 400 miles away in Iowa, has been coming to Tulsa for 40 years, serving up hot dogs and polish sausage.

The Tulsa State Fair is stop No. 3 for the Beener family and its food stands.

Hardenbrooks' food stands start earlier in the summer at the Iowa State Fair, swing through Nebraska and then end up in Tulsa.

Bob Beener remembers when he joined his brother-in-law in Tulsa.

“Looked at Oklahoma City, looked at Tulsa, this was a little closer to home, but I like it here," Beener said.

A dozen traveling severs and cooks run into regulars every year.

"I didn't know they came that far, but it's pretty good," Caitlyn Pollard said.

Cheyenne Pollard, added about the Beeners, "They're friendly, very friendly."

Local vendors load the midway, but Beener and others spend much of their summer on the road.

“It's just fun,” Beener said. “If you like the business, it's fun. … I enjoy it. I'm 72 years old now, I'm here in the morning and work all day long and close a night.”
